Obama and the Status Quo

Although I don't agree with the methods, policies, or political appointees, I can't deny that President Obama is an intelligent man. He surrounds himself with intelligent people. I would bet that those people spent the better part of their lives working dilligently toward the goal of achieving a place in the American political landscape from where they could make changes to societal norms that they thought infair or unjust. And as dedicated people live and breathe their causes and goals, I am confident that they have developed numerous plans to carry out their intended changes. And when you get numerous people together who have numerous plans to change the way things are, then those people start to interweave their plans to develop one master plan.

If you think I'm crazy, all I have to tell you is that thousands of people do this every day. We're called consultants. We work for our clients to identify organizational issues that need to be changed and then develop master plans to change them all. We talk to each other at work, over lunch, on weekends, and at barbecues in order to develop the best possible plans to eliminate the issues of our clients.

And these aren't even OUR problems.

Imagine you are a dedicated person with a desire to become politically minded and eliminate some societal woes. Wouldn't you talk about your plans even more than a handful of consultants? Of course, you would. You have a stake in the game, a dog in the fight.

So Obama has amassed a group of left-wing radicals who have been conspiring to change the world since at least college. Now they are in their 40s, and they have had plenty of time to hone the plan. Many of them cut their teeth in activist positions with radical groups of various green, anti-capital, anti-religion, or just anti-American ideals. They are in positions of true power for the first times in their lives. Obama appointed many of them into czar positions so that they are immune from any Congressional oversight (not that that would make much difference), and they are salivating at the idea of actually being able to change the world.

The people are in place. The plan is understood by all. now it is time to execute.

The government has changed the incentives all around, and as can be expected, people are beginning to act differently. Big corporate types are scared to move up the ladder, because the higher you get, the more the Federal Government can set your salary. These businessmen are squelching their potential for fear of the government. This will prevent America from feeling the benefit of the next Jack Welch or Lee Iacocca.

Unions have been given controlling interest in General Motors. This causes businesses to wait before filing bankruptcy, because a bankruptcy filing, which is usually settled in court, might now be settled in Congress.

Stem-cell research, global warming research and activities, and a host of other "sciences" are now being federally funded. The innovators in the market have forever been able to invest wealth into productive ventures. Lipitor is one of the pharmaceutical market's greatest innovations, and it was developed with private money. No federal money necessary. If there is a benefit to the world for any particular product or service, the free market will find it. Because if there is a value to it, people will pay for it, and if people will pay for it, there is always some innovative person out there who will figure out how to do it better than anyone else and put a price tag on it that people are willing to pay. To use tax dollars to pay for something people don't want is contrary to the tenets of the free market, and it's just stealing wealth and not replacing it with equal or more wealth.

The Safe School czar wants to put over hundreds of books in public schools which graphically describe child-child and adult-child homosexual relationships and homosexual acts. Who is this making safe? With all the troubles the schools are having just getting our children to read and do math and think logically, I don't think we should be putting any sexual content (of any nature) in front of our children at school. If we do that, then we are expecting the teachers to provide the follow-up instruction on these subjects. I don't want anyone but my own family to provide any sexual or relationship information to my children. Children should be taught about love and respect. If they have self-respect, respect for others, and examples of actual love, then they will develop sexually in a much healthier way.

These are just a few of the endeavors by the current administration to change the world as we knew it. It is all about changing incentives. If you change the incentives, you change the way people act. The incentives need to be changed back to get people looking for work, to get schools teaching our kids, to get businesses innovating, and to get businessmen pushing the envelope to maximize the wealth of their businesses and their investors.
